Company Overview
Amperesand is disrupting industrial power with the first commercialized Solid State Transformer (SST) systems. The SSTs are much more than a transformer replacement, enabling numerous advanced features to unlock solutions for data centers, EV charging, renewables, microgrids, and industrial installations. We are looking for mission driven team members passionate about making amazing products for worldwide electrification at maximum acceleration. Amperesand is building a global company and looking for talent across our geographies.
Responsibilities
Electronics Design Engineer to lead the development and integration of control and auxiliary electronics. This role focuses on enabling safe, real-time, and robust communication between high-voltage power stages and embedded digital controllers, with a strong emphasis on MV/LV isolation, system protection, and signal integrity.
Lead design trade-offs and architecture decisions for low-voltage subsystems supporting MV/LV power conversion, with a focus on safety and reliability.
Design and validate hardware for control, sensing, and protection circuits
Develop isolated interface circuits (e.g., signal isolators, isolated DC-DC converters, fiber optics) that ensure safe operation between high-voltage domains and low-voltage controllers.
Collaborate with firmware and mechanical teams to ensure clean signal routing, system-level timing alignment, and successful EMI/EMC compliance.
Execute DFMEA and component derating reviews for single fault tolerant designs to meet product lifetime requirements.
Own full lifecycle development of PCBAs, including specifications, schematics, BOM, prototyping, testing, and release to production.
Maintain detailed documentation of requirements and release notes for traceability and compliance.
Qualifications
Technical degree or equivalent industry experience in electronics engineering
5+ years of experience designing and integrating low-voltage hardware for high-reliability or high-voltage systems
Proficiency with PCB CAD and simulation tools (preferably Altium Designer, *SPICE and/or PLECS)
Proficiency in designing mixed-signal and power interface circuits with strong knowledge of component selection and derating for harsh environments.
Hands-on experience implementing industrial communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, Modbus, Ethernet).
Familiarity with EMI/EMC best practices and debugging techniques at the hardware level.
Strong board bring up, debugging, and lab testing skills
Excellent written and verbal communications in English
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% including internationally
Bonus
Shipped a PCBA in a high-volume product
Exposure to functional safety, HV design standards, or product certification processes.
