Responsibilities

  • Shape people strategy. Craft a people roadmap that aligns headcount, capabilities, and culture with Amperesand’s commercial milestones.

  • Architect talent systems. Design and continuously improve recruiting, performance, compensation, equity, and learning frameworks that can scale from ~40 employees today to several hundred.

  • Champion culture & engagement. Embed our values of innovation, safety, and sustainability into day‑to‑day rituals, driving high eNPS, and low regrettable attrition.

  • Steward compliance & risk. Interpret and apply federal, California, Nevada, and local employment laws; oversee employee‑relations investigations and craft policies that stand up to regulatory scrutiny.

  • Advise leadership. Serve as coach and thought‑partner to the leadership team and to functional heads on organizational design, succession, and change management.

  • Lead HR operations. Oversee payroll, benefits, HRIS selection, equity administration, and cross‑border mobility (U.S. ↔ Singapore).

  • Build the People team. Recruit, mentor, and inspire a small but mighty HR/Talent squad, setting clear OKR's, and fostering professional growth.


Requirements

  • Prior top‑seat experience. Previously held the Head of People/VP of HR role at a venture‑backed startup, ideally scaling from Series A/B to triple‑digit headcount

  • Expert command of U.S. employment law. Deep, hands‑on knowledge of wage‑and‑hour, leave, EEO, OSHA, immigration, and multi‑state requirements, with special fluency in California regulations

  • Unrestricted work authorization. Already eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available

  • Broad HR toolkit across talent acquisition, total rewards, performance, ER, L&D, and DEI

  • Demonstrated success building programs in a hardware, cleantech, deep‑tech, or manufacturing environment

  • Data‑savvy mindset with the ability to turn HR metrics into board‑level narratives

  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills to win trust from production‑floor technicians to PhD engineers to investors

  • Willingness to travel between Reno, the Bay Area, and Singapore
